There was a pretty solid SAA fare to Africa earlier this year. I did MRU and probably would've done a few more if I had the time.

As for why they don't come up as often, my guess is that it is because there are fewer carriers operating the routes and the planes are mostly full anyways. No need to discount your inventory if folks are willing to pay the full price.
