Amongst the cheaper places to buy STAR RTW tix are:

India - where a Econ 29K tix costs a shade over US 2000 and a Biz 29K tix costs a bit over US 3000.

Thailand - Similarly cheap fares (a little higher) are available ex. BKK

You would probably be able to get a good deal to BKK on TG and then buy the RTW and possibly not use the segment from Oz to BKK (or save it for later use)
