Probably availability. I'm also booked on YVR-HKG, because there are no LAX-HKG open when I need to go. It's not even the right dates!
I hope CX releases a lot of good seats the weeks before. One week before may be too close to make changes to other plans, but I'll take what I can get.
OP, as others have said, you can't do multiple stopovers in Asia on a single award. You can consider also purchasing the tickets outright. There are cheap low-cost airlines in Asia such as AirAsia that can get you from one place to another.
