Shoot - tough lesson to learn. I didn't realize I was "risking" getting points by booking the rate since it was a Marriott promotion and not some special mark-down or "bid" opaque type rate.

The confusion for me was that the exact same rate is available via marriott.com (I checked too late - after I got the "pushback" about adding my MR account number). I was on orbitz already for another, unrelated transaction and didn't think anything of just booking the Marriott reservation since it wasn't labeled as an Orbitz special or some other flag.....oh well, now I know.

I will try again to get the MR number added, just for the incidentals + platinum amenities.
