Moving BA out would mean moving AA, CX, AY, MH, RJ, IT and QF (assuming JL and IB are moving to T5 anyway). BAA would be being very courageous (to borrow from Yes Prime minister) to do this. Unless, Heathrow East space is available instead. T4 is a non starter for BA, the runway crossing plays havoc with the schedule.
Adding a further mentioned point, the JSA may well be going, but it's only 6 daily flights. The remaining oneworld members want BA cohabiting terminals too. Moving to Heathrow East wouldnt worry them much but moving BA out of T3 without the rest of oneworld is unthinkable.
No, what I've heard is a bit stronger than a wishful thinking from a competitor. I wouldn't be posting about it as positively if it was just rumour mill from an airline.
My credentials are pretty good at being right in the face of people not believing my news. I continually warned that preparations for the T5 opening were not going well - BA staff kept doubting me and saying it was all going wonderfully - sadly, 10 years in the airport industry, 2 new airport openings that I worked on professionally and some good insider sources, and I was proved correct.
I think this information is at least as strong as that I was getting about T5, or I would have expressed it with more doubt. Now, I could still be wrong, my informants could have misunderstood, or plans might change (particularly if BA understand what they have to lose by their ongoing obstruction).
But it's not wishful thinking from a competitor. I can see why it would be more comfortable to think it is though.
