I don't mean to say the lounge is particularly bad... has wifi, showers, comfortable seats, a view, and is not far from the gates and usually not crowded.

Where it falls a bit short in my opinion is the catering. Admittedly many lounges around the world are far behind in this as well, but I have liked BA Club lounges better. I'm not expecting anything spectacular either, I just like to grab something to eat while in the lounge, and have never been overly impressed with AY when I've been there.

And then the bar service, as already discussed in many threads: just tap wine and beer unless you have status - c'mon AY, have some class... It's not that people on paid J/F couldn't afford to pay for their drinks, or that you would necessarily have to have a drink in the lounge at all, but charging extra for that kind of stuff leaves a cheap impression. Here BA wins hands down.

In the end of course a lounge is just a room where you can spend time in relatively more comfort than the rest of the airport, nothing to get too excited about. The real reason to avoid AY would be the unpredictability of their J seating until they get all of their aircraft upgraded. I wouldn't want to find myself stuck with the older product on a long overnight, and much less the ex-AF seats.
