Issue with booking preferred seats on SQ?
I booked flights from SYD-SIN-NRT return for October, and when assigning seating on the SQ website I opted for preferred seats on a couple of legs. Their new website appears to have some major issues with seat allocation...
For a start, if I pick my seat and hit "save and continue" it boots me back to the search flights screen - the only way to proceed is to hit "next segment" or whatever. Then if I choose a seat, continue, etc., all seats are chosen and allocated to me, I get emailed a receipt saying I have those seats, but their website shows no seats are allocated to me. Although, the seats I chose now show as taken.
To cap it off, on the preferred seats I chose, I'd get the usual popup about the $50USD fee and it asks me to agree and hit next to continue. I agree, hit next, but it just goes to the seat selection and never asks me to pay! But the seat is assigned to me as I have an email stating it. I am concerned however that as I have not paid for the seat, and thus have no receipt proving payment, the seat could be taken off me at any time - potentially without notice. Has anyone else run into this issue where the site isn't charging for the seats it says it will?
Do I have to actually call them and explain all this in order to pay for the seat? Working properly, the website SHOULD prompt me for my CC details when I select it. But it does not, it just assigns me the seat for free, even after agreeing to the surcharge. Initially I thought they would just charge the CC they have on file (which I used to book) so was not concerned when they asked for no payment upfront. But after seeing no charge on my CC, I looked on their site and realised it is supposed to ask for payment.
To cap it all off, the system actually lets me triple book seats. I can currently book up to three seats per flight leg - with just one ticket. If I log in, select a seat, then exit the process, it 'assigns' it to me, and the seat is no longer visible as available. But the system still lets me pick another seat - I can repeat, and then book yet another seat. After three it appears to just error and no longer let you book more. Of course I called them and asked them to remove all the seats I did not want, so I know only have one seat per leg assigned. But this new website seems horrible - broken, buggy and very slow. When I last flew this route in November 2010, their [old] website worked perfectly for seating.
Anyone else experienced this issue with preferred seating bookings not taking payment?
