Point is, USAir doesn't give comp upgrades to elites (which is the main reason I bought the F ticket), but they have no problem giving the seats away to non-elites.
And once my new "friends" found out the drinks were free, you'd have thought they won the lottery...
Correction!!!---if you're not a Chairman's Preferred.
Upgrades to/from Hawaii/Europe/South America/Middle East
As a Chairman's Preferred member, you'll receive 2 electronic certificates each year for one way First Class/Envoy upgrades that you can use for upgrades to or from Hawaii, Europe, South America and the Middle East.
These certificates are issued each year on March 1. If you're traveling with a companion, they must be booked in the same reservation and will be processed at the same time as the Preferred member.
Here's how to use your annual electronic upgrades:
Purchase your ticket through US Airways or a travel agent.
Provide your Dividend Miles account number to a Personal Liaison at the Chairman's Preferred desk to process the electronic upgrade for you and your companion. As always, upgrade eligibility is based on the fare you purchased and is subject to capacity control.
This benefit cannot be used within 1 hour of a domestic flight or within 4 hours of an international flight.
My upgrades to Hawaii are always complimentary. I walk into that plane with a big smile on my face, a pair of shorts, T-Shirt and flip-flops, whenever I fly to Hawaii.
