Technically, one can still acquire a Mutual Fund Account as an HGVC benefit; the original ones were grandfathered in and Hilton stopped offering the accounts in 2004.

But the issue sounds more like it is one of attempting to register cards from two people to an account, and I do not think it's possible as the cardholder account information will not match the HHonors account holder's.
