I can speak about Varig's business class cabin on the MD-11. Seats have a 48 inch pitch compared to UA's C+ with a 55 inch pitch. Consequently the recline is not as generous. There is no in seat video. I have found the attentiveness of the cabin crew hit or miss.
I myself am partial to the McDonnell Douglas widebodies, The shape of the wing makes it less responsive to changes in the control surfaces. An analogy might be the soft marshmallowy ride one experiences in a Cadillac Sedan de Ville as compared to the tight stiff responsive ride one experiences in a BMW.
