I recently flew JFK-LHR on BA182, the flight was on a new 777 (a very nice a/c indeed with an advanced IFE system). However, the seatmap in economy class at OLCI was wrong. It showed a 2-3-3 configuration in economy, while the real is 3-3-3. We were a bit suspicious, since the seats were A-B (and not A-C) and the cabin maps on seatguru showed the real config.
And frankly, I do expect BA do be able to get their seatmaps right.
This was a quite important difference for us, as we wanted aisle seats. What looked like an aisle seat on the OLCI was in fact a middle seat. Knowing about this we asked again at baggage drop and the helpful agent did confirm it was a middle seat and changed our seats to B/C, so we did get an aisle seat.
But a less savvy traveller would problably not have caught this. And we actually overheard people in front of us that thought they had an aisle seat but got a middle. Any idea to contact BA about this, you think? It's not like I expect any compensation, but they should at least make sure the issue will be fixed.
There is a chance of a wrong seat map, but on the other side there are not any? Also why don't you reserve on the 3 middle seats keeping the one between you empty? In that case don't confirm your check in, but just reserve your seats in order to be able to change your seat allocation if someone seats between you.
