ok, lets take for example a big airport like del....there is a check at the entrance where security checks your ticket & id....then the second 'check' is at the counter where you get your boarding pass....the third check comes while screening your bags....then the fourth & final check comes when you are boarding your flight....seems to me like if you take out the first check at the entrance then it pretty much what you go through in the US....
now lets take an example of a smaller airport like lko....there is a check for your ticket & id while entering the airport....your checked in bags are screened before you get to the counter so you could consider this your second check....then a third 'check' where you get your boarding pass....a fourth check while screening your hand luggage....a fifth check while passing through the boarding gate & since there is no aerobridge you could consider the agent taking your bp at the time of boarding as a sixth check....now i haven't flown through a small US airport in a couple of years but when i did in 2009 i went through pretty much the same thing without the first check....first check at the check-in counter, second check when dropping my bags in front of the tsa agents, third check while going through security, fourth check at the boarding gate & a fifth check while boarding since there was no aerobridge....in those days i also used to be 'randomly selected' for a security check every single time i flew through a US airport so i pretty much went through an extra check which made it about six security checks before i got to my flight....
the only differences between the US & here is that the security checks are more thorough & the airports are nicer....no other difference....
one more thing....the stamping of security tags on hand luggage here in india is pretty stupid & they can definitely do with that....
