When I came out, an F/A that was in the adjacent galley area rather abruptly asked me "What are you doing here?". Somewhat surprised, I replied that, well, I had just used the lavatory. She then started saying that I was not allowed to be here, that it was next to the flightdeck, security, bla bla bla. I apologized, saying that I didn't know they had such a policy and that it wasn't advertised as such. I then when back to my seat. Over? No. Two minutes after, the aforementioned F/A pointed me out (like, with her arm and index finger extended) to the in-charge, which then approached me and proceeded to lecture me, in full view and within earshot of other passengers, about security, September 11, and so on, and said that "we have air marshals on board and they could have wrestled you the ground". I advised the in-charge that if not using that particular lavatory was so important, they should advise passengers and put up appropriate signage, and added that I have used (and continue to use) lavatories in equivalent locations next to the flightdeck on a variety of aircraft both within LH (e.g. the narrow-body Airbuses) and with other airlines (e.g., the 767s on AC, where the 1L lavatory/ies is often the only one/s available to J passengers). I then said that I had never been treated like this on any plane (which is true, and remains true to this day). This whole experience left a bitter taste, and I have since purposely avoided flying LH for that exact reason.
I would like thoughts on this. Has this ever happened to anyone else? Should I write LH's customer service people about this, or am I crazy here in thinking that the crew's attitude was a bit over-the-top?
