IIWY, I'd take my driver's license along in case I changed my mind. Fira is a fine place to hang out and enjoy sunsets and what have you, but it's quite small. Renting a car is a fun way to get around the rest of the island in less than a day - see some funky volcanic beaches, wineries and stuff. Taking a boat trip around the caldera can also be fun, but you're stuck with a bunch of other people, which might not be what you want on your honeymoon.
