Also from my past travels, you only get the 500 miles once per direction, as you sit in the airplane while others get on and off.

Welcome to the six year lurker! Dates are extremely limited, didn't realize that when I first posted the fare, and even more so if wanting to route through SFO. Tue or Wed departures seem to be the best and more September has more availability than October or November. 13-16SEP works from AOO-SAN. If you want to spend more time in SAN a month long search on ita comes up with some 5-7 day itineraries for around the same fare although not always routing through SFO. Shorter itineraries are tougher but occasionally available.
