I grew up in KS, raising beef. My opinion is grass fed beef from the midwest is just as good as Kobe. Yes, I did have Kobe in Japan and didn't think it was worth it. But it isn't always easy to find truly grass fed meat in the US. I seek out the specialty stores now to buy it. I can't speak for Wagyu as I have never had it.
