The issue may be that TPA and SRQ aren't considered co-cities even though they're relatively close. I could catch a later flight to TPA and drive to SRQ but that wouldn't fall under SDC rules.
While this is true, I have successfully gotten changed from SRQ to TPA on at least 3 different occasions in the last year when I would have been stuck overnight in ATL.
Be extremely nice when asking even though as always, YMMV.
