That is good advice. If it looks like you are going to have an issue, tell the wife to get on her flight and you do a SDC for a later SRQ flight.

Whatever you do, be polite and ask for mercy. If you push too hard, Delta holds the cards here and you lose...

Be smart and aware of your flight possibilities/options in advance. Also, if possible, SDC on an earlier flight out of AUS if you can... lead the agents down the path you want to go....
