I've stayed at the PH Dubai for quite a bit in the first half of 2011 (100+ nights - which will most likely allow them to identify me ).

Overall, I love the place - great service, great environment. Getting up in the morning and leaving the hotel always gives me a 2 second vacation feeling when I first smell the outside air.

In terms of upgrades I haven't really gotten that much - guess they know there's no need to give it to me. Got upgraded once to a suite (which was very nice - especially the two balconies) and a couple of times to a deluxe room (which was pretty useless - there's some extra space around the bed and that's it). For sure felt like it wasn't worth it when I had to pay for the deluxe room because the standard one wasn't available.

The one thing that's really outstanding is the service - after staying there for so long, most of the staff know me by name and greet me accordingly. Concierge always does a bang up job the few times I need it (with one exception where there was a pretty major issue with a car rental - which they ended it up fixing after about three weeks).

The breakfast is pretty amazing - even though I only treat myself to a hot item on weekends. Otherwise, the Thai restaurant is pretty good and room service is decent as well.

As I've stayed there so long, I know the place pretty well by now. No idea why they keep putting me into different rooms but for some reason they do.
