I would much prefer the US domestic carriers to follow the non-US model. Make the premium cabib (F, BE or whatever) a real premium hard and soft product and then sell it. I'd pay.
The reason they do this is probably because people don't pay (or their companies don't pay). I think what could work is a tiered 3 class system where FFs get enough perks to keep them flying the airline, but a few seats are maintained in REAL F for those who actually pay for them.
