I agree with WillCAD. You could go to a fabric and craft store and get the elastic if you really wanted it. I prefer the lashing straps to really secure the contents. They also have a multitude of clothing snaps that you could install in your bag and on the straps for attachment. I think a heavy duty snap or maybe two at each attachment point would hold for you. If all else fails a needle and thread might work..
