Arrow Sheraton Club des Pins Resort and Towers - Algiers, Algeria [Master Thread]

Back from the trip, here some thoughts about the hotel:
1. Location:
The hotel is about 30-40 min drive from the airport. Having said so, it took me 1.5h to get back to the airport on a Thursday night. You have to cross the city to get there, therefore be careful, as traffic jams might foil any plans.
The hotel itself is located directly at the beach. As anywhere in Algeria, security pretends to be anywhere - you have to open your car when entering the gates, a metal detector and bags screening at the entrance etc. but nobody seems really to care.
Depending on where you need to go the location mig be a huge drawback. In my specific case, I selected it because it was just 10-15 min drive to my office.

2. Facilities & Service:
The rooms were OK, the standard ones have a window overlooking the parking lot, the luxury ones look at the sea. Minor drawbacks started already at checking in. At least my room did not have any towels and toilet paper.
Several restaurants are within the premises of the club. We tried out the breakfast, a seafood restaurant inside, another one directly at the beach and barbecue at the pool as well as the bat. Not tested remained a Italian one and an Algerian. As I was there during the Ramadan, some of the restaurant remained closed for renovation. However, overall no restrictions were imposed over the guests due to Ramadan.
Beside the wide choice of restaurants, I tried the well-equipped gym. Another inside and outside pool and spa area were available free of charge for guests as well.
During weekends, Thursdays and Fridays, a club is open at the premises of the hotel as well. This increases the already high amount of non-guests on site.
Overall a nice choice of things to do and eat. However, the major downside was the service. Honestly, this was my worst experience ever in a claimed 5* hotel. As all restaurants outside of hotels were closed due to Ramadan, I ate quite often in one of the restaurants. There was not a single meal, where not at least one item was forgotten or wrongly delivered. In addition, my colleague and myself wanted to order lunchboxes as take away for the office (an item, which was even specifically mentioned in the in-room dining menu). Both of us placed orders, which were understood. When we wanted to pick them up next day, nobody was even aware of our orders. We had foreseen this, therefore we went to the reception prior to breakfast, reminded them of the forgotten order and wanted to pick them up after the breakfast. Of course, we underestimated the local unwillingness to provide any service. After breakfast the next shift was already there - of course with no clue about our order. Our complaints were just received with lots of eyes rolling and the final offer to bring our laundry downstairs (at this point we finally got it - half of the people did not understood a single word of what we said). Other examples of non-service were not made up rooms for up to three days, despite daily calls to the reception & housekeeping.

3.Price & Conclusion
We paid around 190 EUR+VAT per night, breakfast was 1800 DZD, food never below 40-50 EUR / head (without going heavy on the drinks. E.g. a bottle of beer was around 600-700 DZD/6-7EUR; Coke 300-400 DZD/3-4 EUR). Overall, the hotel is not worth it, if compared to global standards. There is just not much competition in the city and they get off with their attitude without being penalized by their customers. Next time will try the Sofitel - heard from my colleagues that it seems to be a little better on the service side.
