Just to clarify this and absolve the hotels of blame they don't deserve, federal regulations in the US prohibit the sale of shower heads with a flow rate greater than 2.5 gallons per minute at 80 psi.
The real problem is with that regulation. 80 psi is VERY high pressure for plumbing system. Not very many of you are running 80 psi in your house. So the actual flow delivered by a legal shower head will be even less than 2.5 gpm in most cases. That said, a well designed clean shower head that meets the regulation will get you plenty wet in a normal amount of time. The problem with most is that they are not well designed and are not clean. They get clogged with mineral buildup and other junk in the water supply and they get broken by people trying to adjust them to some spray pattern that they just won't do.
I think the folks that are worried that the OP is going to somehow damage the hotel's plumbing by swapping shower heads have never changed a shower head. It is really easy to do and the chances of breaking something are very very small. You're more likely to break the TV remote in normal use.
