Any particular reason for your preferance of Castlereigh?

Well, it does boil down to what is available.
Castlereigh had the pool and a standard (twin) available. I think all the bungalows have pools now. I would say the best room there is the one at the end of the house. You have your own little garden and a lake view. The 2 rooms to the back are larger with gardens (no lake), but I can't say they are worth the price difference.

The second year only Summerville was available with a twin and it was also very nice, but I would rate Castlereigh above it.

Norwood seemed a little sterile to me.

To each his own, but I wouldn't do some of the long day trips that are offered. The traveling would take away from the experience of the hotel.

One day I took the free tea factory tour, was picked up at Castlereigh did the tour and then dropped off at Norwood for lunch. After lunch I walked back to Castlereigh. IIRC the walk was about 2.5 hrs.

The next year we walked from Summerville to Castlereigh (much shorter..maybe 45-60 min. and had lunch at Castlereigh. Return to Summerville was via a local in a canoe (PLUS FEE )

They do ask you what you would like for dinner/lunch, but it is pretty standard western/continental fare. Once at Norwood they offered the EXACT lunch I had the previous day at Castlereigh. I mentioned that and it was no problem to adjust the meal.

There is only one Sri Lankan dinner per week, but they do offer a Sri Lankan Breakfast every day upon request with 24. hrs. notice (email ahead and confirm on arrival).

Moderators: We are drifting from the OP, but it is nice to have some discussion about such a great country. It used to be limited which airport hotel for premium air tkts... or "Can I check in for my CX, SQ F flt at the transit desk?
