well, even more complicated to be sure about the solution.

In some respect all airports in/around Los Angeles (includes LAS and SNA) count as one and the same (example only one stopover, LAX and another stopover at SNA would exceed that one).

I have never been 'charged' surface miles when arriving (international) at JFK and departing afterwards from LGA (same rule for the 4 NYC airports: LGA, EWR, JFK and White Plains count as one).

But on the other hand, a UA Express flight LAX-SNA is possible (and charged with 36 miles).
