Echoing the advice here. I had done a refinance a year ago (my score has always been in the 700s) but I had applied for credit cards a month or two before the refinance. The refinance was actually unplanned, but we couldn't turn down the lower interest rate than what we had at the time.

I can't remember but to get the best rates, I think my score need to be in the 720-740 range (the co-borrower had higher credit score, but my bank apparently review the lowest borrower's credit score). Fortunately, my credit score didn't dip much and our refinance went without any issues (and we got the rate we wanted), but I was definitely biting my fingers the whole time through.

And then I jumped right back into the new offers since. If I'm going into my first mortgage, I wouldn't play with getting new credit prior. Patience...
