The newer Westin Lagunamar is a high rise with nicer, newer timeshare studios and apartments with kitchen and washer/dryer. Granite tops, nice and luxe, small balcony with a view of the ocean but you are also looking at all the other condos too. It is a densely built upon site in the middle of all the Cancun hubbub. The older Westin Regina is on the quiet airport edge of the hotel zone next to the Club Med. You would definitely want the Royal Beach Club package with better rooms, breakfast buffet and happy hour heavy snacks and drinks. The rooms in the main hotel are not acceptable. The Royal Beach Club rooms are showing some wear but they are large and comfortable and the balconies are great...sheltered, private, roomy and well furnished. It is much more a beach goer's laid back hotel than the Lagunamar. Myself, this November I'm going to try Le Meredien.
