On my last few United flights, when I've been sitting in E+, I've see the FAs asking to see people's boarding passes when there have been bums in seats which were shown as empty on the seating plan.

I've also seen people sit in E+ and then hold up their credit card, indicating their desire to do a buy-on-board upgrade to E+, which the FA has cheerfully processed.
