A friend of mine has pointed out that it is possible someone is hoping for a little compensation for the trouble. And that is the reason behind them continuously asking if it's possible for me to pick it up in person and them needing to check to see if they can send it. I would be happy to provide the compensation of course, but I don't have a good idea of how to do that, either.
I dont think so. Trying to get compensation is more common in goverment departments in India but doubt that 9W will do that. I still think it is due to the hassle of sending it to you.
Do you have any contacts in bangalore? Try contacting the airline office and see if they agree to give the phone to your bangalore contact(if you give a letter/fax authorising them to collect it on your behalf).
