But the folks in the Thai forum are pretty insistent that because CNX has a customs facility, it is normal (certainly with *A) to check bags through on a domestic connection then clear only immigration in BKK. Apparently when you land in CNX there is a separate belt for baggage which has yet to be cleared (with a customs official). Of course the issue is moot if AA/CX wont interline for TG.
Yes, this is true. I did an int'l-domestic connection at BKK a few years back (this was at Don Muang, but Suvarnabhumi is the same I believe). Cleared immigration and entered the domestic departures area at BKK, then claimed bags and cleared customs at CNX. I believe they will tag your bags with some special tag to indicate that it needs to be cleared at CNX.
