Quick update on the status of this ongoing "baggage saga" for me. I'm flying SJT-DFW-YYZ-HKG-BKK-HKT. (Currently in HKG for the next 7 hours or so) SJT-YYZ is AA, YYZ-BKK is CX, (Both same award ticket) and BKK-HKT is TG on separate revenue ticket.

At SJT they inform me they cannot check the bag all the way to HKT because it's too many segments, so they only check it to DFW. At DFW I check the bags again all the way to HKT. (Knowing I'll have to pick them up in YYZ though to check them again) At YYZ, I get the bags and check them again. At first they think they're only going to BKK, but when we show them our TG papers, they change it so the bags are checked to HKT. However, the CX check in agents informed me I'll have to pick them up again in BKK to re-check them. Now I'm thorougly confused, because I thought I wouldn't have to see these bags again until HKT? If I had more time on my connection in BKK, I would't mind just "seeing" if the bags pop up, but if they will not come out at BKK, I'd rather stay on the secure side then. I greatly appreciate any advice!
