Jetstar to open a Hong Kong based Airline

Is this the big news that's gonna be proposed on the 24th
http://www.skynews.com.au/businessne...5&cId=Business

There are reports that Jetstar plans to launch a Hong Kong-based budget airline focused on mainland China routes.

The airline is reportedly in talks with the city's government to apply for authorisation and is seeking majority shareholders of the proposed airline, to conform with Hong Kong laws.

Jetstar already operates flights within Asia through its Singapore-based unit, Jetstar Asia Airways.

Is it me or does QF/JQ really hate CX, I know QF's friendship with CX hasn't been plain sailing and JQ has codeshares with CX, but this type of news isn't really gonna help their friendship at all. Some other forum believes that the HK based JQ wouldn't be competition with CX, instead it would be with HX aka the newbies. I think that it would be against three e.g. HX, CX and KA. Another way is if JQ allows CX to have a share of the airline, however that's highly unlikely. If you think about it, because there are more cities in the 4 hour radius there would be more flights for JQ, this would also make HKIA's plans for a third runway to be necessary as space would be limited, this would be HKIA's very first homebase budget airline.

But at the end it if doesn't work out I'm just gonna burst out laughing

Another report:http://www.marketwatch.com/story/aus...ier-2011-08-03
Interestingly this report says this: The report said Jetstar, a unit of Qantas Airways Ltd. (QAN.AU), is seeking Hong Kong permanent residents as potential majority shareholders of the proposed airline, to conform with Hong Kong laws regulating ownership of airlines registered locally.
