Continental Airlines - What is "N" class?

As a Air Canada/Aeroplan frequent flyer, the question is important.

One can not earn Aeroplan miles, if flying "N" class on Continental.

I booked a flight from EWR to NAS earlier today for Aug 28 - cheapest available flight was "W" class. The Continental agent confirmed that I could earn Aeroplan miles, on the flight booked on this fare class.

The KVS tool showed plenty of "S" and "N" class availability. I guess that "S" class ran out, notwithstanding that the KVS tool suggested otherwise.

The Continental agent said that "N" class though is not offered in this market.

So, I am confused.
