I'm guessing it's because the items are high profit, have low labor requirements, and increases use of existing equipment. All of the sandwiches from Dunkin' Donuts are heat and serve. Open package, nuke it in the microwave, and bag it.

In New England, Dunkin' Donuts is almost like a religion. The drive-thru lines on weekends are insane.
