Agreed. There is no way cutting your flow from 8 to 4 GPM is going to double your shower time. It may halve your shower enjoyment... but a well-designed shower head could make the difference hardly noticeable. Maybe the OP could spend time looking for a low-flow shower head that FEELS like a high-flow.

I love to take long showers in the morning and baths at night. I'm taking a trip to Australia this fall, and hubby already warned me I should cut back because of the drought.
If there are water supply issues in an area, I would say it is definitely wrong to purposely use more water to take a shower. I read a magazine article about some farm in Australia where they had to take showers over a dishpan and then re-use the water for some other purpose like flushing toilets.
