Fair or not, DL has found a way to place its customers in a pickle of a situation whereby customers will more often end up in a position of having to pony up more money to save some devalued miles or to save any residual value in DL mileage tickets.

DL elites aren't being spared any pain from this policy change, but at least PMs and DMs can do what you and the overwhelming majority of DL SkyMiles customers cannot do: avoid paying DL fees for even the simplest of changes to mileage tickets if wanting to try to save some miles/mileage tickets.
