YVR-NRT/return: 9348 miles
fuel cost/ASM (Avail Seat Mile): $0.047/ASM

total fuel cost per seat YVR-NRT-YVR: $439.36
fuel surcharge: $690.00

so $250 of pure profit, plus they don't have to contribute anything toward the fuel. Nice work if you can get it.
