upgrade: i think its LHR that has this problem? and yes, unless its an opup you'll have to pay for tax difference.

otherwise, i've always paid the same tax on CX (CX-ticketed, CX marketed) flights.
others are a pain in the butt

can i assume that the tax on redemption ticket is generally more than the tax on a normal price ticket?
ie if i went to an airline website and select the same route i wanted to redeem and the cost was 1k fare + 1k tax. can i assume that the tax for the redemption ticket is at least 1k?

i read somewhere on the forum that these days, airlines are charging alot of tax on redemption tickets to discourage the use of points (sneaky and distasteful). is it better to use points for upgrades then?
do we have to pay tax on upgrades? (not sure and never did it before)
