Connex2me - you are violating FT rules by cross posting the exact same post (with change references from SQ to CX above) for your convenience. This is not permitted.

FTers please see his other post - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum83/HTML/001411.html

Guy Betsy and others - would you please cool down for a second? Since I joined flyertalk, I have never crossposted anything twice, and I will continue to do so. And belive me, I thought twice before I posted above mentioned posts...

However in this case, it is appropriate because - as you very well remarked - the two posts are dealing with different alliances / airlines:
As you might know there are people, who take more than one flight a year and also use different airlines of their choice for their convenience (esp. when they`re not collecting miles). And as posted, I`m not looking for an answer for myself, but for my friend, therefore it was beyond my control what airlines he flew.

In this case, my friend had several flights, as posted mainly on SQ and Cathay, and some others. I don`t want him to lose any miles, and therefore I suggested joining a Oneworld and a Star program. And therefore, I wanted to have the experts´ opinion on how flexible some programs might be concerning retroactive credit.

And my view is, that those experts can be found in the Oneworld forum for OW airlines and in the Star forum for Star airlines. Therefore, I made two posts asking for DIFFERENT programs for DIFFERENT airlines in DIFFERENT forums to get appropriate answers (instead of asking for both airlines in one post in the Star forum because this indeed would have been a violation of FT rules. Also, I think milesbuzz wouldn`t have been the right place either, as generally the experts of those airlines mainly look up either the OW or the Star forum).

I hope this helps to clarify things and you share my view now, that two different posts make sense in this case.

Connex2me, I would know an answer to your question as I recently faced the same situation for a friend of mine. But maybe you could shed some light on why you posted your thread twice claiming your friend flew on different Alliances?

Give and you shall be given...

Sydfly, I hope the eplanation given above is explaning the situation. I would be very interested to know your answer to help my friend based here in Australia.

Any other input is greatly appreciated!
Thanks.
