A friend is currently stuck at IAD waiting for UA974 to depart for Geneva. It was supposed to leave at 6pm and its already 9pm there as of this writing. The airline is supposed to decide by 9:30pm if the flight will get cancelled or not. Since the destination is in EU, is this going to be covered under EU regulations. Can someone advise on what type of compensation she would be entitled to (either for delay or cancellation), and how should she go about filing a claim?
