BA Amex Premium Plus Card

I applied and was accepted for the BA Amex standard(no fee)credit card in March of this year. I very quickly realised the error of my ways and phoned to ask to be switched to the premium plus card and pay the £150 fee.

I was told I would have to undergo a second credit check which seemed strange but I agreed and was subsequently declined the upgrade to the premium plus card. I appealed the decision by letter but got nowhere. I still do not know why they rejected the upgrade, surely the credit risks are the same for both cards and surely they would prefer me to be paying an annual fee than not?

Anyway since then I have applied and been accepted for Amex Platinum charge card. I have now read that Plat holders get free BA Premium Plus cards and I am wondering whether a) this is this still true and b) would this help me at all in a repeated rrequest to upgrade to the premium plus card?

If anyone has any experience on this I would be most grateful. £20k is a hard target for me in 12 months for the 241 and £10k would be much easier.

Thanks in advance!
