During my time working for "mouse ears", the strong preference for most employees working at the studio and environs was to use BUR rather than LAX due to the former's convenience to the studio where the aforementioned rodent kept his offices. Negotiated rates aside, UA's route network at BUR, while quite limited, offered a bit more flexibility than AA's: with ~6 daily services to SFO and ~5 to DEN (as opposed to AA with 4 daily to DFW), UA offers more options than AA.
