I had a similar experience recently with that. I was flying to TPE and was connecting from SFO-HKG we were running a little late. As I walked off the plane, a CX agent was waiting with my boarding pass in hand, got me through security I was on the plane in 10 minutes (from walking off one and onto the other) and just before we left, they confirmed my one checked bag made it.
