Just wanted to update and say thank you all for the advice and guidance. We leave Friday for the 10 nights in China as well as the ensuing 21 nights elsewhere (and wedding!).

to update, we 'tweaked' the last proposed itinerary to have some extra time in BJ and less in HK by leaving on a later flight from BJ. (albeit we had to go BJ-SZX to get an affordable flight).

Also - I am still planning on using HSR from Nanjing to BJ - in light of the reported delays and issues on HSR mentioned here and elsewhere following the unfortunate tragedy in Wenzhou, should I perhaps re-consider booking flights for that trip?

Finally if any FT'ers would like to catch up for a drink or two in SH,NJ or BJ then just drop me a PM, would love to have the chance to say thanks for all the help by buying a beer or two.
