On-topic:
At this point I'm saying there's stuff on
BOTH sides that went wrong.
BTW - can't speak for anyone else, but I'm sick & tired of the OP doing the drib & drab thing with the details. He could have put it all in the OP & we would have given him input. Also, we have yet to hear what the 'other' issues were. I'm at the 'whatever'

stage quite frankly.
And it doesn't help when his posts don't line up with what (alledgely) happened, even according to him. Go figure.
Re: one thing. Sometimes the original bed type isn't available at 1am.
It happens. The world doesn't fall apart. The hotel was probably correct they couldn't sort it out at that time if the bed was no longer available, and the next morning (what, 7-8 hours) later it would have gotten sorted. Again speaking only for myself, at 1am give me the d*mn bed & I'll sort it out in the morning & throw my hissy fit then.
Re: #4. The OP started his thread on Saturday night & it's only Monday.
Marriott Concierge is a courtesy representative to FT & doesn't work on the weekends, nor is it their full-time job to monitor FT, so not getting a response right away isn't totally out of the question. But back to the drib & drab thing - you didn't mention contacting MC at any time through many posts on this thread (until I mentioned MC

). I'm a bit skeptical on the Friday night reporting to MC. Just sayin...
I
DO agree 100% w/ the OP that Marriott or the property should have told him up front they're going to freeze his account. They did via the letter. However, they totally FUBAR'd when they didn't allow him the full 15 days to sort it out, and he's absolutely correct they shouldn't have frozen it until the 15 days passed.
No disagreement there.
BTW - on a dif note. The OP mentions getting the original GM's cell in April. He didn't follow up after that? He said he had multiple issues, but he checked out 'due to the bed guarantee'. He mentions he wrote the BBB - when? When did he challenge the charge?
Why didn't he escalate it first to MC & Bill Marriott back in April? Obviously he didn't. He decided to do the Chase/BBB method instead.
And again, he & I are totally different animals. Fair enough; dif folks; dif strokes. I get his frustration. But I would never dispute a hotel charge for a stoo-pid bed guarantee, nor would I ever contact the BBB re: it. I'd sort it out w/ the hotel chain, even if I had to take it to the head honch, in this case Bill Marriott. It's the fact that he did dispute the hotel charge to $100 when the hotel didn't necessarily agree w/ him that the $100 payment was valid/much less the dispute, that led to this problem.
As
Often1 said,
"OP and others are comparing the apples of what Marriott may have owed him to the oranges of what credit card chargebacks are for. OP may be in the right and Marriott may well owe him $100.
But, chargebacks are not for the resolution of disputes about the value of loyalty program benefits.
If Marriott owes OP $100, it owes him $100 and he can determine how to collect it. A chargeback would be appropriate if OP had a room rate of $400 and Marriott put through a charge for $500 and would not fix it or if OP had cancelled the room prior to the cancellation deadline and had still been charged."
But wrong room rate isn't the case here.
Also, what the heck is w/ the Sheraton comparison? That means squat - unless the OP at some point has checked in at 1am to a Sheraton, his preferred bed wasn't available, & they gave him $100 (oh wait - they don't have that guarantee; forget that part - he doesn't have that recourse

) or moved the OP at 1am to a room that did have a king bed, which presumably they should have given him in the first place, or if they didn't, then upgraded him to a suite for the rest of his stay.
Other than that circumstance, Sheraton is absolutely irrelevant to this discussion.
Also, since the 'new' GM did do the right thing when contacted, I think the OP should update both the TripAdvisor & BBB reports to reflect that, but that's just my opinion.
