In fact, the meal service, as far as I can tell, was the same (my friend flew back in first on the return while I was in business and we compared notes).

Also, the 762 is OLD. Very warn down. At least on the planes I was on. Could not believe how tired everything looked. I love American's routes, their mileage program and their great customer service for Explats, but I can't wait for the new planes. In fact, one could argue that AA has the worst planes of any of the elite carriers. Even the 777s are old. I'm loyal and wil continue to fly AA but those 787s can't come soon enough.
Wholeheartedly agree. I've traveled in three-class F on domestic transcons twice, once MIA-LAX on the 777 and the other time LAX-JFK on the 762. I found the soft product on both to be very underwhelming and the meal choices basically amounted to crap #1, crap #2 and crap#3 instead of just crap #1 and crap #2 in J (though a Sundae at lunch to JFK was nice).

The seat was the only differentiation and while the smaller cabin/better lavs to pax ratio were nice in F, the latter items weren't worth any extra money, and while F on the 762 was cool, I'd probably actually have been more comfortable with an aisle in J than the window I had in F.
