Though the rules wouldn't allow it, I would try calling AA and asking to be switched to the LA flight anyway. I think there is a decent chance it would be allowed.
Just called the Latin American AAdvantage line. Never have called the Plat Desk, because i feel more comfortable talking in spanish since it's my mother tongue. Anyhow, i am gonna give a ring to the Plat desk too, just in case.

So far what the agent told me makes sense. My award is an AAdvantage award, not an all-partner but decided to give it a shot as i found that extract on the wiki. (the one you can change carriers with no charge. The wiki was not specified if AAdvantage only or partner. Just said MileSAAver which is my type of award).

Anyhow, what the she told me was that, yes i could change it but would have a fee of $150. If i had booked an All-Partner it would be at no cost.

I purposely did not book an All-Partner as it commanded more miles for the same trip AND most importantly. What i like about AA only awards is that i can book it per the website. I don't have to call nor speak with anyone, just plug&play with it on the pc and voila, of course avoiding the $30 booking fee per head.
