The ticket is a multi city booking PVG - EWR, then EWR - OSL via AMS. Is it possible for them to tag the bag to OSL when I check in PVG, and my EWR - AMS flight is 40 hours later, and AMS - OSL flight is ~55 hours later ? Or can they tag it EMS OSL in EWR (23h before the flight)?
I don't think they'll print a bag tag all the way through with the 23-hour connection. As
sbm12 points out, there is a limit, and 12 hours sounds right, IIRC, from the last time this came up.
As for EWR, they will not accept bags more than X hours before a flight (I think it's 6). They can probably fudge it a bit, but it's highly unlikely you'll get them to take the bags at 23 hours out.
