Primland is beautiful and peaceful- we stayed in a fairway house 3 yrs ago before the lodge was completed. The house was stunning and the same Atlanta design firm did the lodge. There are also less expensive, old cabins and ranch style homes available- they are nicely situated with long range views (?) but I haven't seen the interiors. The older homes were probably built when a lumber company owned the property.
Primland was purchased in the 70s by Didier Primat (now deceased) a Schlumberger (oil fields) heir. His eight children who mostly live in Switzerland (?) now own it. I'm sure they want it to be profitable and successful but no expense was spared by Didier in its creation- really a private retreat for many yrs.
Our golfer friend has stayed there several times and says the food is now excellent.. he also swoons over the golf course- in addition to its great beauty, it's very unique and special because of the spacing between players.
We have reservations for next month- I can report back then.
