This may have been after you left the TSA, but a result of the
Bierfeldt case settlement was that TSA was reprimanded, and they agreed to revise their policies so that they are not searching for any evidence of criminal activity outside of weapons and explosives.
If they insist you have to answer questions about money, or try to count it, they are in violation of the Fourth Amendment, and working outside of SOP.
